As you go, you’ll understand how different ingredients come together to create balanced flavours. Local herbs, spices and cinnamon play an important role in the dish. It’s an interactive experience where you cook, taste and ask questions, gaining a practical understanding of coastal Sri Lankan food and everyday cooking techniques.

Step out from Uga Riva and hop into a tuk tuk for a guided ride through Negombo. The route takes you past the Hamilton Canal, where you’ll walk alongside local fishermen and hear how cinnamon was once transported here during Dutch rule. You’ll continue to key landmarks, including a historic Portuguese-era library and the old Dutch fort.

Along the way, you’ll see everyday life unfold in streets, markets and neighbourhoods. The ride moves at an easy pace, giving you time to notice small details and understand how the city connects its past with the present.
