Discover the Story Behind Sri Lankan Tea

Head out from Uga Riva and visit the nearby tea-growing areas with a local guide. You’ll try tea plucking, learning how to choose the right leaves while speaking with workers about their routine. The freshly picked leaves are then taken to a weighing point, where you’ll see how they are collected and sorted.

A short drive brings you to a tea factory, where you’ll walk through each stage of production, from drying to packaging. The experience ends with a tasting session, where you’ll sample different teas and begin to notice how flavour and quality vary across each cup.

  • “The building would have been enough. What we did not expect was how much of the day the staff quietly built around what we said at breakfast.”
