Imagine descending into clear blue waters with no one else around, just you and the ocean. A manta glides past, unbothered, as you drift over coral reefs teeming with life. At Laamu, each dive feels like a personal discovery, not just a tour.

Deep Blue Divers, Laamu’s on-site PADI 5-Star Dive Center, is run by a team of professional instructors who are passionate about diving and the ocean. You can choose from a wide range of PADI-certified courses – from Discover Scuba Diving if it’s your first time to Divemaster if you’re looking to go pro.

Lessons are available in multiple languages, including English, German, French, Spanish, Mandarin, Italian, Catalan and Dhivehi.

If you’re new to diving, you can start with an entry-level course or a one-time dive experience to get a feel for life underwater. Certified divers can join daily dive trips to explore coral gardens, walls, channels and cleaning stations through which mantas and reef sharks pass.

There’s also a continuing education program for open-water divers looking to build their skills.

Younger guests aren’t left out either.

Children aged eight and up can take part in youth diving programs designed especially for them, while those aged 10 and older can join beginner-level PADI courses under the guidance of experienced instructors.

If you want something even more personal, you can book a private diving experience tailored to your level, interests and pace.

The calm waters, healthy reefs and abundant marine life around Laamu make every dive unforgettable. And with no crowds, it’s just you, the sea and a whole world waiting to be explored.

Snorkel in Crystal-Clear Waters on a Turtle Safari

You don’t need to be an expert swimmer or a marine biologist to enjoy snorkelling. Your Ocean Wings snorkel guides and a resident marine biologist will be with you the whole way, pointing out colourful corals, schools of fish and, if you’re lucky, a reef shark cruising by.

They'll share stories about reef life, how ecosystems work and what makes Laamu’s coral gardens so unique.

This experience is relaxed and easy to join. The trip runs from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, giving you enough time to soak up the sun and see marine life at its best in the afternoon light.

Between stops, you’ll enjoy a break on the boat with coffee, tea, cookies, fresh fruit skewers and time to share what you saw beneath the surface.

You slip into the water and everything goes quiet, just the sound of your breath and the flicker of fish weaving through coral. A clownfish peeks out from its anemone home and for a moment, it feels like the reef is putting on a show just for you. A turtle glides past, unhurried, as if inviting you to follow.

Laamu never fails to offer you something different. No crowds, no rush – just open water, colourful reefs and a small group of explorers looking for the same thing: a real connection with the sea.

If you’re curious about marine life or just want to see something beautiful, this turtle safari gives you a chance to slow down, look closely and experience the Maldives in a new way. This is an experience you’ll never forget.

Step Aboard a Dolphin Cruise Along Laamu Atoll’s Edge

Head out onto the water at sunrise or sunset to look for dolphins moving through Laamu Atoll. As the cruise glides along, pods often appear nearby, swimming alongside, leaping or turning effortlessly through the water. You’ll watch calmly as they come and go on their own terms. On the return journey, sit back while the sky slowly changes colour, and the pace softens, making you feel at ease.

An on-board marine biologist will share insights into dolphin behaviour and the wider underwater world of the atoll, helping you understand what you’ve just seen and the ecosystem these waters support.

  • “The building would have been enough. What we did not expect was how much of the day the staff quietly built around what we said at breakfast.”
