Lengishu

Head out on foot with a team of experienced rangers as they track both black and white rhino across the conservancy. Each morning begins with the task of locating and accounting for every individual, offering a rare look at conservation in practice. Along the way, you’ll learn to read tracks, recognise signs and understand how each rhino is identified.

The pace is steady, with time to observe and ask questions. Moving through the bush on foot brings a different awareness of the landscape and wildlife. It’s a grounded, real experience that shows the effort and care that goes into protecting these animals every single day.

Saddle up at the Borana Conservancy stables and head out across open plains on a well-trained horse, suited to both beginners and experienced riders. The horses are calm around wildlife, allowing you to move quietly among giraffes, zebras and different antelope species.

With Mount Kenya in the distance, the ride feels calm and unhurried, guided by a team that knows this place well. The pace adjusts to your comfort, so there’s time to enjoy the surroundings and build confidence along the way. Riding here offers a different way to see wildlife, closer to the ground and more connected to the charming landscape.

Walk out to one of Lengishu’s scenic sundowner spots, including Pride Rock or a newer space set slightly apart from the house. The surrounding is open, with wide views across the conservancy as the light begins to shift. At the centre of it all is Martin, known as the ‘Liquid Chef’, setting up his pop-up bar right where you are.

He works with botanicals found around Lengishu, turning them into cordials and cocktails that feel grounded in the landscape. The menu changes with what’s available, and there’s always something new to try. Conversations flow easily as the sky deepens and the day slows down.
