    Get a Hands-On Pottery Experience

In the pottery workshop, children begin by getting familiar with raw clay – feeling its softness and malleability. They are taught how to knead and prepare the clay to remove air bubbles, ensuring a smooth and workable texture.

Once ready, they move on to hand-building techniques like coiling and slab work, learning how to shape the clay into simple forms such as small bowls, cups or figurines.

For older children, there is an opportunity to try the potter’s wheel under expert supervision. The process of centring the clay, shaping it with gentle pressure and watching it take form is engaging and fun.

Throughout the workshop, the focus remains on understanding the craft rather than just the final product. The potters explain the importance of patience and precision, demonstrating how even minor changes in pressure can alter the shape of an object. Children are encouraged to experiment, make mistakes and refine their skills through practice.

Once the pottery pieces are shaped, they are left to dry before being fired in a traditional kiln. The potters explain the firing process and how it strengthens the clay, making it durable. Children can either leave their pieces for firing or take them home as raw clay models to air-dry.

Beyond the craft itself, the workshop provides a wonderful connection to local traditions. The children learn about the significance of pottery in tribal communities, where it has been an essential skill for centuries.

The pottery workshop is available on prior request and offers a fulfilling, hands-on learning experience that children can carry with them as a lasting memory.

Make Your Evenings Special in a Bonfire Night

Make Your Evenings Special in a Bonfire Night

Gather around the crackling fire, where flickering flames cast a soft glow on familiar faces and new acquaintances alike. The warmth of the fire creates a space where travellers, families and nature enthusiasts come together to share their day’s adventures.

Whether you’ve spent your day spotting tigers in the dense sal forests, observing birds in the meadows or simply soaking in the beauty of Kanha, the bonfire becomes a place to relive those moments through storytelling.

If you’re here with your loved ones, the bonfire experience will help you slow down and enjoy uninterrupted time together. Children huddle close, their faces lit up with excitement as they listen to tales of the jungle.

Parents, often caught up in the rush of daily life, find a chance to connect with their children and join in the stories and laughter. The warmth of the fire, combined with the shared experience, strengthens bonds and leaves lasting impressions.

For solo travellers and groups, the bonfire is a space where you can meet like-minded explorers. Conversations spark effortlessly like discussing the thrill of a tiger sighting, the beauty of the starlit sky or even exchanging travel experiences from different corners of the world.

This also shows how nature has a way of bringing people together and building connections that extend beyond the trip.

Amidst this lively atmosphere, there’s also space for solitude and reflection. You can also choose to simply sit back and watch the flames dance. The night unfolds at its own pace, unhurried and peaceful.

At Kanha Earth Lodge, bonfire nights not only help you stay warm but also make you understand the importance of human connections in the heart of the wild.
