Play Golf in the Lap of Stillness

Play Golf in the Lap of Stillness

Imagine stepping out into a stretch of green land that seems to go on forever. The early morning air is cool and calm. You can hear birds, feel the silence of the landscape around you and there’s a stillness that sharpens your focus.

At FHR Wilderness Lodge, golf is a moving meditation surrounded by forested ridges and soft lakeside breezes.

You tee off under wide skies, the arc of the ball cutting through light. The 12-hole course is well-maintained but doesn’t try to outshine its setting.

Each fairway comes with its own little moment – trees swaying, the crunch of gravel underfoot and a flash of a bird in flight. You pause, you aim, you play. And in those pauses, you notice the things you miss on a regular day.

You may start your mornings on the grass, using the quiet hours to wake up fully. Others return in the late afternoon, playing a few holes as the sun drops behind the hills.

There’s no rush, no scores to chase unless you want to. In that moment, you’ll only find yourself, your thoughts and an open, beautiful space built for the game.

You don’t have to be an expert to play golf. You can come with friends or play solo. You’re invited to enjoy the game as it comes to you – intuitively and patiently. If you're here for work, a quick round between meetings helps reset your head.

If you're here to slow down, this activity gives you a new way to feel blissful. Watch the light shift across the course as you sit back and settle in. At FHR, golf becomes a way to move, to pause and to feel fully present here.

Enjoy a Bonfire Night under the Stars

Enjoy a Bonfire Night under the Stars

After a day spent wandering through green trails or quiet corners of the estate, the bonfire at FHR Wilderness Lodge becomes a place you naturally gravitate toward.

It isn't just about warmth, though the flames do offer that, but about a shared pause, a slow unwinding.

As the sky begins to dim and the air grows cool, the fire takes on a gentle pull. Its glow draws people together, not in a rush, but with a gentle charm that feels earned.

Here, you’ll settle into a seat, a warm drink in your hands – perhaps ginger chai brewed strong or mulled wine with hints of cinnamon and clove. The crackling wood speaks in soft rhythms, filling the silences between conversations.

Nearby, laughter drifts easily, never too loud. The night is alive with small sounds: crickets in the brush, the low murmur of voices and the light pop from the fire.

As the staff pass around roasted corn, grilled paneer or hot bites pulled straight from the kitchen garden, there’s a kind of unspoken gratitude. Food tastes more real out here – simple, fresh and somehow more satisfying.

You can feel the heat of the fire on your face while your back rests in the cool mountain air. Overhead, the stars come out slowly and appear like sharp points of light in a sky untouched by noise or city glare.

No one’s in a hurry to leave. Stories are shared without effort and songs hummed without a stage. Just sitting here, watching the flames rise and fall, is enough.

And when you finally head back, the scent of woodsmoke clings to your clothes like a beautiful reminder: what you carry with you is a feeling you’ll want to return to.

  • “The building would have been enough. What we did not expect was how much of the day the staff quietly built around what we said at breakfast.”

  • “Everything was arranged before we asked, and nothing felt arranged. That is a hard thing to get right and they get it right.”
