Appreciate the Grandeur of Ajanta and Ellora Caves

A visit to the Ajanta and Ellora Caves takes you on a journey into India’s ancient heritage and staying at Dhyaana Farms is a great way to explore these iconic UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Located about 100 km apart, these caves showcase ancient craftsmanship, with stunning frescoes, intricate sculptures and rock-cut structures that bewitch the imagination.

The classic Ajanta Caves consist of 29 Buddhist caves. These caves, primarily monasteries and prayer halls (viharas and chaityas), are adorned with vivid frescoes and sculptures that depict the life of Buddha and various Buddhist teachings.

The Ajanta caves are celebrated for their exquisite paintings, showcasing one of the finest examples of ancient Indian art, capturing the spirituality and culture of the time.

Ellora Caves, on the other hand, encompass a diverse mix of Buddhist, Hindu and Jain temples, highlighting the co-existence of these three major religions. With 34 caves in total, Ellora's rock-cut temples and monasteries are intricately carved and adorned with stunning sculptures.

The Kailasa temple in Ellora, one of the largest monolithic rock-cut temples in the world, is a must-see marvel that showcases the extraordinary skill and vision of ancient craftsmen.

While Ajanta and Ellora Caves are often mentioned together, their distinct characteristics make each site a unique experience. A visit to these caves gives you insights into India’s rich cultural and religious history.

    Craft Your Own Pottery Masterpiece

Pottery is one of India’s oldest and most enduring art forms, rooted in the country’s cultural and historical landscape.

From the Indus Valley Civilization to present-day rural communities, pottery has played a vital role in daily life, serving both functional and artistic purposes. Across India, different regions have developed distinct pottery styles.

At Dhyaana Farms, you can experience this age-old craft firsthand through a hands-on pottery workshop.

Whether you are a beginner or have prior experience, the workshop provides an opportunity to engage with clay, understand its texture and learn traditional techniques from skilled artisans.

The pottery wheel becomes a space for creativity, allowing you to shape your own unique piece while learning about the precision and patience required in this craft.

Guided by experienced potters, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of pottery, including pottery piece-building techniques and surface decoration. The process involves working with natural clay, moulding it into different forms and refining details before it is set to dry and fired.

Through this immersive experience, you will appreciate the craftsmanship passed down through generations.

Pottery in India is more than just an art form — it is a livelihood for many rural communities and a symbol of sustainable, handmade craftsmanship.

By participating in this workshop, you not only create something with your hands but also connect with a tradition that continues to shape India’s artistic heritage.

After the session, you can take home your handcrafted piece as a reminder of the experience and the beauty of this wonderful craft.
