Experience the local culture of camels
The camel is an enduring symbol of the Thar Desert and enjoys deep bonds with the herders. Camels are considered family and are decorated with elaborate jewellery and attire. This beloved creature is a recurring motif in the art and textiles. At Kaner, guests can enjoy the company of camels and be a part of the culture.
The folk musicians of Rajasthan sing the tales of the land under the starry desert skies. Their repertoire includes a song called 'Gorbandh', it is the name of the jewellery that the herders lovingly make for their camels. The song talks about the rare bond between the camel and man. At Kaner, guests can explore this unique culture of camels. They can go on a camel safari in the natural habitat of the camels, spend some time with the herders and also enjoy an interactive session that traces the culture of camels. Over the years, urbanisation has resulted in a decrease in the camel population and the silhouette of this ubiquitous animal is disappearing. At Kaner, we are spearheading a campaign of camel awareness and conservation by supporting the herders.
